BETWEEN TRADITION AND MODERNITY
Welcome to Taberna do Enteiriço, a modern Alentejo tavern in Vila de Frades, Vidigueira. Here, the classics of Alentejo cuisine get a new lease of life. Without losing their soul.
We serve time-honoured dishes with a fresh approach: salt cod migas, Alentejo-style pork, slow-braised pork cheeks. Alongside them, our own authentic Vinho de Talha, produced just a few steps away at Gerações da Talha. Cante Alentejano (the region’s centuries-old folk singing) does the rest.
Sharing is our philosophy. Make yourself at home.
A place of meeting,
Comfort and tradition.
DISCOVER THE SOUL OF ALENTEJO
Taberna do Enteiriço was born from a deep love for the Alentejo of always. We restored a historic space in Vila de Frades exactly as it was: whitewashed walls, original stone floors, clay roof tiles worn soft with time.
Our kitchen was developed with Chef João Miguel Mourato (Quinta do Quetzal), who helped shape a menu built around three moments: starters, petiscos, and dishes to truly fill you up. From eggs with farinheira sausage to fried dogfish with cured pork fat, from Serpa cheese with a fried egg and capers to salt cod fritters. There’s always a reason to come back.
We are also part of the Gerações da Talha project, producer of Vinho de Talha in the Vidigueira wine region. Recognised by the Guia Repsol.
Services
STARTERS, PETISCOS AND DISHES TO FILL THE BELLY
The menu unfolds in three moments. We start with the essentials — local olive oil, cheese, regional charcuterie. Then come the petiscos: eggs with farinheira sausage, salt cod fritters, fried dogfish with cured pork fat, Serpa cheese with a fried egg and capers. For the main act: salt cod migas, slow-braised pork cheeks, Alentejo-style pork, pica-pau.
On weekdays, we serve a lunch menu with daily specials. At the weekend, the full menu.
AUTHENTIC VINHO DE TALHA
We honour the heritage of Vila de Frades with authentic Vinho de Talha, the soul of the Gerações da Talha project, poured into every glass.
Vinho de Talha is made using a process over 2,000 years old, rooted in our region since Roman times. We produce it ourselves at Gerações da Talha, in Vila de Frades, and serve it at the bar and at the table, by the glass or from our own bottled label.
It’s the wine of Alentejo from before Alentejo knew it made wine.
